About this Event On March 7, you are invited to join the 1st Annual San Diego Tech Women's Summit that is convening the region’s thriving and diverse tech workforce as we celebrate International Women’s Day in America’s Finest City. This Summit is produced by a strategic collaboration of San Diego-based advocacy organizations and women employee resources groups (ERGs) that features Athena, Blacks in Technology SD, Designing Women, Girls in Tech San Diego, #LatinaGeeks, LEARN Academy, Qualcomm, TechSesh, Tech Women @Intuit, Women in Technology at Sony, and Women Who Code San Diego. Ranking 5th in the nation with the highest concentration of engineers and scientists, regional and global progressive tech companies will join high-tech industry leaders, rising tech stars and gender equality advocates as our community drives towards making the region a destination for diversity. By creating this safe space defined by inclusiveness and innovation, participants can expect to enhance their careers, accelerate their leadership skills and intimately understand which companies and career strategies most align with your personal values and career ambitions.

Welcome from Qualcomm: Vicki Mealer Burke currently serves at Qualcomm’s first Chief Diversity Officer. Vickie is responsible for providing the vision, leadership and oversight of internal and external inclusion and diversity initiatives.
Session #1: Keynote by Jessica Naziri: Jessica Naziri is a technology and digital media entrepreneur with more that 10 years of experience in journalism, social media, video content strategy, writing and editing. She is Founder & CEO of TechSesh, a community and sisterhood for young women in tech.
Session #2: State of SD Tech & Gender Equity (Presentation): Sarah Lubeck from The San Diego Regional Economic Development Center (EDC) and Holly Smithson from Athena will partner to kick off the day with an informative outlook on the SD Tech Ecosystem. This presentation will include data that not only overviews San Diego, but will provide an overview on the state of gender equity and how to increase gender equity throughout the San Diego’s tech sector.
Session #3: San Diego Resources To Level Up Your Career (Panel): Discover regional resources and available tools to gain practical insights on overcoming obstacles and accelerating your career goals. Expect this discussion to spotlight leadership development, the importance of community, why mentorship & sponsorship matter and how you can utilize our region’s robust support system. Featuring leaders from: Athena, Blacks In Tech, Designing Women, Girls In Tech SD, LatinaGeeks, WomenOfAI.org. and Women Who Code SD. Join this powerful showcase of tech women champions and make International Women’s Day the day you step into your power.

Session #4: Becoming Fully Represented In Tech (Panel): Blacks in Technology, LatinaGeeks, & Women in Cybersecurity will host a special panel discussing the intersectionality of race and gender in the workplace and how viewing gender through the lens of women of color can provide greater insight on creating a more inclusive tech economy.
Session #5: 2020 Tech Showcase (Panel): Women Who Code San Diego will highlight the latest technology trends in a panel featuring a number of inspiring women specializing in data science, machine learning, AR, cloud computing, UI, and cyber security. In addition to diving into these tech topics, the panelists will also discuss advice for getting into their respective industries and what diversity looks like in their field. Attendees will leave with a greater sense of technical acumen to help them thrive in their businesses and careers.
